4 O’Clock in the morning and
I had just finished my shift on Yarmouth seafront. It was a case
of quickly getting home, bath then change to await Hammy. On time
Hammy arrived at mine and we left Norwich at 6.20am.Lofty,
Tungy, Tretty and 80s Stu had already left Yarmouth in another car
by that time. They were spending the night in Newcastle hence the
different transport, me and Hammy was doing it in a day.
It wasn’t too long before I was in the land of nod with my
pillow leant against the window I had been at work since 5pm on
the Friday.
Before long we had stopped at Scotch corner for breakfast. A
quick phone call to the others to organise an R/V then it was off
to Carlisle.
On arrival at Carlisle we parked at the railway station then
pitched up in the nearest pub to await the others who were coming
by train from Newcastle.
Me and Hammy spent the time observing some of the strange half
breeds that lived in that part of the world.
The others duly arrived at 1pm with Hannah and John then after
a quick pint and a phone call to Ginge who was there with his
missus we decided to move off to meet him in the Beehive Pub. On
route to this I stopped to speak to some people I knew and the
others walked off towards the pub. Unbeknown to me Hammy had took
them completely down the wrong road and ended up in a different
pub.
I went to the Beehive only to be refused entry as it was a home
pub and 60% of the people in there were City and they were not
letting any more in.
I was directed to the Rugby Club but as it was full of cabbages
I gave it a miss.
I phoned the others and told them I would meet them in the
ground.
